Community Education Behavioral Health and Depressive Disorder Project
In collaboration with multiple project partners, the Community Education Behavioral Health and Depressive Disorder Project is designed to dramatically increase the amount of education and the number of community-based screenings directed at individuals at-risk for behavioral health issues across a five-county area. More than 3,800 participants will receive education, early detection, and intervention for mental health disorders.

Living Well with Autoimmune Disease
Through the Living Well with Autoimmune Disease program, the Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania will partner with the John Heinz Institute to offer free workshops on wellness issues such as nutrition, exercise, stress and pain management, fatigue control, and smoking cessation. Sessions will be open to lupus and autoimmune patients, their family members and care givers, as well as to the community at large. Six hundred (600) participants from seven counties are expected to benefit.

Fit for Life
North Penn Comprehensive Health Service will partner with summer program venues throughout Tioga County to offer the “Fit for Life” Program to 100 young people, ages 5-to-21, with developmental and/or physical disabilities. The program integrates nutrition and fitness to teach these individuals how to identify healthy foods, prepare healthy snacks, and incorporate exercise into their daily routines to improve their overall health.

Bridging the Gap
The Salvation Army has partnered with the Williamsport Area School District, Big Brothers Big Sisters, West Branch Drug & Alcohol, Lycoming College and Susquehanna Health to provide the Bridging the Gap life skills program. The program will target at-risk and troubled youth with a series of learning experiences on health education, anger management and personal development, as well as guidance from an adult mentor. Forty-eight (48) individuals along with community mentors will participate.

Underage Drinking Prevention
Tioga County Partnership for Community Health has partnered with 14 Tioga County middle and high schools, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Tioga County Court and Prison to offer the “Underage Drinking Prevention” Program. This program will provide intensive alcohol and drug awareness education to 2,100 Tioga County students in grades 6 through 12. In addition to educational outcomes, the program expects to generate a drop in youth DUI’s and citations for underage drinking.

Women’s Resource Center, Inc.

Women’s Support Meetings
The Women’s Resource Center will offer free, confidential women’s support meetings to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. The meetings will focus on topics such as legal options and safety planning, with a special emphasis on strategies for maintaining the health and well-being of both the survivor and her children. In the coming year, support meetings will provide critical education to 370 female victims in Lackawanna County.
