Dawn DeMorrow
  • Age 52
  • Resident of Luzerne County
  • Breast Cancer Volunteer
  • Mother of Three
  • Two-Time Breast Cancer Survivor
Dawn’s first experience with breast cancer was in 2002 when she detected a lump on her breast. She comes from a family with a history of cancer, so when her doctor confirmed her suspicion, she wasn’t surprised. Her treatment included a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Her daughter, Kelly, gave her priceless moral support by accompanying Dawn to each chemotherapy treatment.

Dawn knew she could make it through her experience with breast cancer since her twin sister, Susan, had led the way to survivorship seven years earlier during her battle with the disease. Dawn’s resolve stayed strong during a second experience with breast cancer in 2008.

Dawn stresses the importance of performing monthly breast self-exams as well as having regular mammograms. “There is no one sure way to detect breast cancer, so take every precaution,” Dawn says. “Early detection is everything.”
