Vital Statistics
Jeanne Laninger
Age 72
Resident of Bradford County
Retired Hairstylist
Grandmother of Two
Breast Cancer Survivor
Jeanne’s breast cancer was detected by a mammogram in 1989. She underwent a lumpectomy followed by a mastectomy, but did not require radiation or chemotherapy treatments.
As a Reach to Recovery volunteer with the American Cancer Society, Jeanne has dedicated nearly 15 years to helping others cope with their breast cancer experience. She also keeps busy by hiking with her family and their Shih Tzu, and by participating in church activities, such as visiting shut-ins.
Jeanne has also become a women’s health advocate, encouraging her family members and friends to conduct a breast self-exam at least once a month, in addition to having an annual mammogram. “And don’t forget exercise and good nutrition,” she says.“They all play a part in maintaining good health.”
