Barbara A. Wagner
  • Age 64
  • Resident of Carbon County
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Grandmother of Six
  • Breast Cancer Survivor
Barbara’s cancer was detected when her doctor felt a lump on her left breast during a routine gynecological exam. Though Barbara had no family history of breast cancer, a mammogram and biopsy confirmed a cancer diagnosis. She underwent a lumpectomy, followed by radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

During Barbara’s treatment, she received a great deal of support and strength from her husband, her three children and her five brothers and sisters. She also participated in the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good, Feel Better” program and has since stayed involved with her local Relay for Life.

Enjoying nature is a big part of Barbara’s relaxation. She enjoys walking, gardening, bird-watching and bicycling … basically, any activity that allows her to be outdoors!

The message that Barbara wants to spread is that breast cancer is surmountable. “More women need to be aware of it and not fear it,” she says. “It is a treatable disease when it’s found early.”
