Diabetes Management Program

Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania's Diabetes Management Program helps members/insureds prevent or delay the progression of diabetes-related problems by taking the necessary steps to keep blood sugar levels as close to normal as possible. Educational materials are available to help members of all ages achieve good levels of control.

These include materials on:

  • Checking blood sugar levels
  • Eating regular meals according to recommended meal plans
  • Taking medications as prescribed
  • Exercising regularly
  • Receiving regular examinations of feet for cuts, cracks or reddened areas
  • Making and keeping regular appointments with your doctor
  • Receiving an annual eye examination by an eye care provider and
  • Asking your doctor about regular screenings for hemoglobin A1c, cholesterol and microalbuminuria
