The Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) is committed to supporting nonprofit agencies that respond to the needs of its neighbors throughout the region.  The Foundation’s Board of Directors recently approved more than $130,000 in contributions that will be shared by 14 United Ways across BCNEPA’s 13-county service area.

The United Way of Wyoming Valley received $32,112 for its 2014/15 campaign, targeted specifically to support health-related programs for Luzerne County residents.

"The United Way of Wyoming Valley is a leader in ensuring that at-risk families in our region receive much-needed services," said Cynthia A. Yevich, executive director of The Blue Ribbon Foundation.  “We are proud to be able to support their important efforts.”

“The United Way of Wyoming Valley’s new focus is on reducing childhood poverty and we are seeking to invest in programs that remove health barriers preventing children and families from achieving education and employment success,” said Bill Jones, President and CEO.  “The Blue Ribbon Foundation understands how meaningful this is and the Foundation’s support will allow us to connect this at-risk population to much-needed health and wellness services.”
