Wilkes-Barre, PA — The Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) is committed to supporting nonprofit agencies that respond to the needs of its neighbors throughout the region. The Foundation’s Board of Directors recently authorized its 2012/13 contribution of nearly $122,000 to be shared by 14 United Ways across BCNEPA’s 13-county service area.
As part of that contribution, the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties received $34,142 targeted specifically to support health-related programs for area residents.
"We are pleased to once again partner with the United Way to help improve lives and address the underlying community conditions that affect our region's most vulnerable residents,” said Cynthia A. Yevich, executive director of The Blue Ribbon Foundation.
“Strong, vibrant and healthy individuals and families are the cornerstone of every community,” noted Gary Drapek, president of the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties. “The United Way is grateful to The Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania for its support of our work to help thousands of area residents lead healthier and more productive lives,” he added.
