Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania got its start right here in Wilkes-Barre in 1938. After just one year, membership had risen to an impressive 10,140. Back then, a family could be covered for $1.90 per month. In return, each family member was guaranteed up to 21 days of hospital care.
Today, we're nearly 550,000 members strong, and proudly serve the many businesses and families within our highly diverse 13-county service area.

Code of Business Conduct
Hospital Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, its subsidiaries and affiliates support the ethical principles that have been synonymous with our company since 1938. We believe that acting ethically and responsibly is the right thing to do, for us as individuals and for our business.
Our Company has developed a Statement of Corporate Ethics and Code of Business Conduct (“the Code”) which has been designed to give our employees specific guidance on how to act ethically while performing work on behalf of the company. Each employee is expected to embrace the principles of the Code, as well as our company’s core values:
The Code is our compass for doing business the right way. It reinforces our core values and is the foundation of our strategic mission. Individuals and organizations that conduct business with us or who act on our behalf are expected to abide by the Code.
