November 14 is World Diabetes Day, and thousands of people with diabetes will test their blood sugar, do 14 minutes of exercise, then test again to see the results.
On World Diabetes Day, Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Susquehanna Health are hosting a free health education event at The LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall. The program is for anyone with diabetes. The information session, facilitated by Susquehanna Health’s certified diabetes educators, will help participants learn ways to be more active in their daily routine. This event is just one of many education and outreach events that Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Susquehanna Health offer throughout the year at The LifeCenter.
Beginning at 1:15 p.m., Susquehanna Health’s certified diabetes educators will share strategies to add activity to the participants’ daily diabetes management plan. Then at 2:00 p.m., participants will join in World Diabetes Day and test their blood glucose levels.
Followed by 14 minutes of activity, participants will then take a post-activity blood glucose and discuss their results with the certified diabetes educators.
The LifeCenter is located in the Bon-Ton/JCPenney wing of the Lycoming Mall.
About the LifeCenter

The two organizations have jointly committed their resources to The LifeCenter at the Lycoming Mall, which first opened in 1992 to make health improvement and prevention services conveniently accessible to large numbers of people in a community setting. During the first five months of this year, more than 12,000 people stopped by The LifeCenter for routine services such as weight and blood pressure checks, free health information, and special educational events.
