Representatives fromBlue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) joined Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce leaders at a recent membership meeting to present the 2013 Healthy Workplace Awards.
Metz Culinary Management was recognized as the 2013 Healthy Workplace of the Year. In 2011, Metz Culinary Management introduced an employee wellness program that includes an incentive for each employee who completes an annual health assessment and two phone calls with a health coach. The company also distributes regular newsletters and emails with wellness tips. Participation in the program has increased every year, with more than 50 percent of eligible employees taking part in 2013.
Benco Dental Supply Company received the 2013 Continuing Excellence Award as a previous Healthy Workplace Award winner that continues to pursue workplace wellness.
Since winning the award in 2010, the company has continued to engage hundreds of employees in a diverse wellness program that includes onsite health screenings, a weight loss support group, an employee fitness center and the opportunity to earn a discount on health insurance premiums for program participants.
The Healthy Workplace Awards are sponsored annually by Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania, ChamberChoice and seven Chambers of Commerce across northeastern and north central Pennsylvania to salute businesses that invest in employee wellness.
