Our pharmacy benefits manager, Express Scripts, Inc. (ESI) recently merged with Medco Health Solutions.  Rest assured, ESI will continue to administer your prescription drug coverage.

What does this mean to me?

Bringing these companies together meansexpanded services for your prescription drug program, starting June 1, 2013.

On the enhanced ESI website, you will see many new tools that have been designed to help you better understand your benefits, shop for lower-cost medications, renew prescriptions through home delivery and much more.

What will stay the same?

  • Your pharmacy benefit will not change.
  • You will use the same Blue Cross ID card.
  • The ESI customer service number, 1.877.603.8399, will not change.
  • The ESI website address,, will not change.
  • You can also continue to go to www.bcnepa.comand to select “Express Scripts” to get your prescription information.
  • You can continue to send home delivery prescriptions to the same fax number and/or mailing address.

What’s been improved?

  • Enhanced website privacy for all adults in your household.  Each member over age 18 must register separately.  You can choose the new “Household view” option to give access to your information to other household members.
  • Home delivery “automatic refills” will now be called “Worry-free Fills®.  Prescriptions previously enrolled in “Auto Refills” that are still eligible for refills will move automatically to the Worry-free Fills program.
  • Adherence “alert” messages to remind you if you have medications that need to be refilled to stay compliant with your treatment.

What if I use home delivery?

  • If you use home delivery, you may see references to the Medco name or the Medco Pharmacy®.  Pharmacy laws require ESI to continue to use the Medco name for a limited amount of time.  The Medco name may also appear on the website.
  • Calls made to you from the Express Scripts pharmacy may display as Medco on your caller ID. Eventually, this will become Express Scripts.

What if I use specialty medications?

  • If you use the Express Scripts website to order or check the status of specialty medications from Curascript, you will be notified that you need to call CuraScript directly at 1.866.848.9870 while the website is being upgraded; however, this is temporary.
  • Express Scripts will notify individuals when the website is restored and upgrades have been completed.
  • CuraScript will mail specialty drug users a letter in May letting them know about the changes and what to expect.
  • The “CuraScript” name will soon change to “Accredo.”

What if I use a mobile app?

  • If you use the “Express Rx” app on a smart phone (Blackberry, iPhone or Android), be sure to download the new “Express Scripts” app from your app store after June 1.
  • The mobile app offers the most convenient way to manage your pharmacy benefits.

If you have any questions, please call Express Scripts at 1.877.603.8399 anytime.
